Fees + Insurance Information

Here is what you need to know:

I personally don't think the 45-50 min therapy hour is sufficient; often we are just getting into the meat of the conversation at 45 minutes and then it's over! I hate that. So, all sessions are 55 minutes or 90 minutes, your choice.

NOTE: These are all individual sessions; relationship/couples work is via coaching (click here for that!)

55 minutes = $150

90 minutes = $225

  • Sessions are held weekly or biweekly (your choice based on your needs and resources.)

  • My preference is to find a consistent day and time that works for both of us, but I understand that is not always possible.

  • I have a small therapy caseload on purpose, so I can be fairly flexible, but generally I require 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment.

  • The no show/late cancelation fee is the full amount of your session, as it is still my time.

  • I will also hold a few reduced fee slots open. Please inquire if you need this. â€‹

I do not accept insurance for a multitude* of reasons ranging from principle (I don't think insurance companies should be in the business of determining who "needs" therapy) to practical (I don't want to deal with insurance companies).

If you are ready to book an appointment, please email me and we will set it up! (You can also email me with questions.)

If you think I sound like a good fit for you but you really just need some advice for a specific issue or problem that's unrelated to mental health, Roots & Keys Coaching might be a better option. That's a very different container with looser structure and boundaries, for people who've already done their therapy work and just need practical direction. If you're not sure, go here.

*OPTIONAL SOAP BOX:

But also- the medical model of mental healthcare is...problematic. I don't think most people who come to therapy to deal with their life or sort out some issue or problem necessarily need a diagnosis, which is required when billing insurance. I think "having anxiety" can be a very reasonable response to a world that feels fundamentally unsafe and unpredictable. Likewise, "feeling depressed" is not necessarily a neurochemical issue; sometimes you are immobilized with stress and uncertainty and it renders you unable to deal with your life. I don't want to diagnose you, either way. It is not the lens through which I generally experience other humans. Yes, there are real medical diagnoses that might apply. I will certainly tell you if something seems clear, as I am not anti-meds or anti-psychiatry. (I am on HRT + Wellbutrin myself, and grateful for the option!) I just don't start with the medical. I start with "what is going on in your life - or in your past- that might be informing these feelings, patterns, or behaviors."
